Downloading y/n?

This week the subject of illegal downloading has been in the news a lot after it has been announced that the government intend to enforce legislation which would involve illegal downloaders being blocked from the Internet and facing criminal procedings.

Now I think that illegal downloading is an important issue which needs to be worked on before the record industry falls apart I don't agree with people saying that downloaders are thieves, also loses caused by downloaders are heavily exagerated. I will not necessarily buy an album just because I wanted to see if they were as good as the 3 songs they have on myspace.

Also I feel that a lot of bands aren't fully exploiting possible ways to increase album sales. Sales of Vinyl increased by 88% last year alone, so why not press your record on vinyl maybe in a cool colour or 2, I personally own multiple copies of most of my favourite albums just because the vinyl looked amazing and the cd is more usable.

I also think a lot of bands out there are lazy when it comes to CD artwork, why would anyone buy an album that looks like nothing special with a pathetic amount of liner notes? When I could get the same thing browsing download websites and doing a google image search.

The new digital album packages being worked on by both apple and the big 4 sound like they could improve the way things are.

I just feel that the industry should be focused on how to sell more records and not curse the people who didn't buy.
